Wenger says Everton used dirty tactics to get a point away to Arsenal

Perennial whinger Arsene Wenger has blamed Evertons physical tactics as the reason his Arsenal side didn’t pick up 3 points in yesterdays match at the Emirates.

An entertaining game saw his Arsenal team restricted to 45% possession against Everton, who came to London full of beans after beating former manager David Moyes’ Manchester United at Old Trafford 4 days before.

Many of the Arsenal players including Jack Wilshere and Mikael Arteta said that Everton were the best team to visit the Emirates this season and the British Media has been full of praise for the way Everton approached the game and looked to out pass Arsenal, but Wenger believed it was a more cynical approach that got them a point despite controlling most of the game.

Wenger said: ‘When we got out of the pressure and got into the passing, they stopped us every single time with a foul,’ he said.

‘To just make a foul without being punished by the referee is a huge advantage because after that you play ten against ten in one half again.’

‘We played against a very good side, in the end we are a bit disappointed to get caught back with a 1-0 result, but overall it’s still a point,’

It was interesting to see that Wenger had an opinion on something that happened in a match, as normally he doesn’t see it.

What do you make of Wengers comments, does he have a point or is he talking out of his backside?  Have your say at www.theevertonforum.com

    1. Wenger says Everton are a very good team and you scrape out a negative point, bizarre! What is it, xenophobia, insecurity, or stupidity?

    2. Wenger did not say everton used ‘dirty’ tactics. you have just copied what some rag had printed earlier. are you so f****ng stupid ?

    3. clearly disappointed at having to live in loserpools shadow for so long. if that aint bad enough, having to live in a sh***ole like liverpool !!!

    4. Wenger is right about everton playing a bit dirty at times, but I dont think he is blamin everton and neither am I. I think the ref is responsible for not controlling the game well enough. That being said, I didnt think it was a nasty game and everton should get credit for the positive game they played. I think everton were controlling the game for 25 min without creating a lot of chances and after that arsenal took over, creating 5 or 6 clear cut chances.

    5. Wenger is always on about this every time Arsenal have a good technical side. I support Arsenal don`t get me wrong and I do think he has a point but it all comes down to how much contact are you gonna allow before you call it a foul. I watched the game and YES I did think it wasn`t an even call and sometimes Arsenal got pulled back for something similar that was allowed to play on for Everton but on the whole it was a good game. If Giroud last kick of the game went in instead of hitting the bar we`ll be talking differently.

    6. Everton are a strong and physical team,
Top four finish is a real possibility.
But you can not denie there was a lot of sly kicks (fouls) which went unnoticed by fergies rent boy.

    7. He also said

“You have to give credit to Everton, they played well and they always looked dangerous. We played against a very good side, in the end we’re a bit disappointed to get caught back with a 1-0 result but overall it’s still a point. It shows you that it will be a tough Premier League and the consistency in the end will be rewarded. The consistency for us is down to us to keep this attitude until the end of the season.”

No point in saying that though- eh?

    8. Crying Arsenal once again. That guy has had the biggest number of sendings off in the Prem. He’s managed a team of thugs over the years.

      Sunday’s stats:
      Arsenal 14 fouls, no bookings
      Everton 11 fouls, four bookings.

And Arsenal fans on here claim we were dirty! Were they watching the same game! Webb was a ‘homer’ yesterday, if ever there was one.

As for this: “…I think everton were controlling the game for 25 min…” Laughable! Arsenal were outplayed for the first 40 minutes, only getting into the game properly in the last 5 of the first half. They actually managed to make it somewhat even in the second half, but overall had less possession and less shots.

So, all you Gooners, get real!
