Joe was a combative midfielder that had spent his time in the lower leagues before joining Everton. Joe was a crucial player during a pretty low time for Everton and formed part of the dog’s of war team of the1990’s. From memory, Joe was close to getting in the England team when he was forced into serious injury at the tender age of 28. Everton fans have a strong affinity with Joe and he was a crucial part of the FA cup winning team of 1995. Outside of the Everton community though, Joe was very underrated which is why he forms part of this line up.
Hibbo is one of our own, a local lad done good. Although recognised as not being the most technically gifted or skilful player, Tony Hibbert is an accomplished defender who is often used as a scapegoat on forums. If Hibbo was brought in from foreign shores and had a South American name, then he may have been viewed differently. That said, this is a player that always gives 100% and although he may not be the best in the opposition half, he is superb at defending and often goes unnoticed. Having represented Everton for over 11 years, Hibbert has made over 250 appearances for his hometown club. The ACTIM index rated him the best English right back in the 04/05 season. Hibbert does has Brett Angelesque abilities in front of goal and when he does score in a competitive game we will certainly riot.
Again, Leon is one of our own and potentially suffers from the same problem as Hibbert and is still seen as a bit of a scapegoat, despite some wonderful performances. Osman, although slight of stature has wonderful technical ability, close control and skill. Finally after years of great performances, Ossie has had his performances picked up by the national team. Osman is a mainstay of the Everton team and it’s no coincidence that the team are up towards the top of the league since he has featured having made over 270 appearances.
