Six Everton youngsters have been named in the provisional England squad for this summer’s Under-20 World Cup.
Manager Peter Taylor announced his 35-man shortlist on Friday, which will be narrowed down to 21 on 7 June.
Ross Barkley, John Lundstram, John Stones, Luke Garbutt, Jake Bidwell and Chris Long all feature in the provisional group and will be eager to make the cut for the competition in Turkey.
Barkley was crowned Everton’s Young Player of the Season at Thursday’s End of Season Awards after an impressive season that involved valuable loan experience in the Championship, as well as nine Everton first-team appearances.
Midfielder Lundstram capped a fine individual season with a successful loan spell at Doncaster Rovers, helping them to seal the League One title.
Left-back Bidwell has spent the bulk of the campaign at Brentford and will be involved in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.
Defensive duo Stones and Garbutt have impressed in 2013, with the former having joined from Barnsley in January.
Meanwhile, forward Long was named the Club’s Academy Player of the Season following consistent displays for the Under-18 and Under-21 sides.
The World Cup will take place between 21 June and 13 July, with England set to tackle Iraq, Chile and Egypt in Group E.
