Reidy impressed with Everton midfield Options
Everton legend Peter Reid is very impressed with the wealth of options that Everton now have in their midfield and believes that they have the right balance.
Reidy believes that with Schneiderlin, Gueye, Barry, McCarthy, Davies, Besic and Barkley – Everton have a good mixture of players.
“Schneiderlin is a really good footballer and a really good buy,” insists Reid. “I thought he was terrific for Southampton and Everton will be a really good fit for the boy.
“He will complement Gueye in that midfield anchor. There is nice balance to that partnership. I’ve also been really impressed with Tom Davies as well – who looks the real deal – so there is plenty of competition in midfield, especially when you add McCarthy and the experience of Barry.
“Of course Mo Besic is out at the moment but he will come back into it as well. You are looking at a good blend of midfield players there.
“But Schneiderlin is a good, all-round midfielder with a bit of everything in his game. He’ll be hungry. This is me trying to get inside of his head but he’ll come here with something to prove. His desire to succeed at Everton will be massive after what happened at Manchester United. The club will certainly benefit from that.
“It is always difficult to buy in January but Ronald has done really well there. The manager knows the boy and has worked with him on the training pitch before. He knows he’s got talent. There are certain players who have worked with managers, who like their methods and rate them. It looks like Schneiderlin enjoys working with Ronald Koeman.”
