Pienaar: The manager says I have to score more goals
Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has said that his dinked chip against Arsenal is still very fresh in his mind, but that manager Roberto Martinez has said that he needs to chip in with more goals.
South African Pienaar scored a brilliant effort against Arsenal but says that winning the FA Cup quarter final is the most important thing and it doesn’t matter who scores.
He told evertontv: “[The 2010 goal] is still fresh in my head. Hopefully I can do the same again, but the most important thing is for the team to win.
“I’ve been quite unfortunate the past couple of weeks. The manager has been pushing me – he’s been telling me I have to score more, I have to get in the box, and the last couple of games I’ve done that.
“I’ve been getting closer and closer, so maybe Saturday I can get one.”
He added: “We’re excited about going there [London], but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. We just want to get out there, make sure we enjoy the game and give everything.
“We’re one game away from Wembley but we don’t want to put that into our heads. It’s another big game. Every game we play is important.
“We went down there in December and tried to dictate the game. We wanted to play our way. But that’s the past and it’s a new game, a new challenge and we’re looking forward to it.”
