Moshiri confirms £60m player bid

Everton major shareholder Farhad Moshiri has confirmed that the club made a £60m for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer, but says that the Italians moved the goalposts once it was made.

Everton lodged a €67m bid for the 25 year old, which was the Italian clubs asking price, but they then decided that they wanted more money as Everton looked to outbid Chelsea.

Speaking to Talksport Moshiri said: “We tried to buy [Kalidou] Koulibaly from Napoli and they wanted £60m (€67m),”

“We competed with Chelsea for him, went right up to the asking price and they didn’t want to sell.

“Every defender now in Europe seems to be £50m, 29, 30-year-olds. It’s Monopoly money, it doesn’t mean anything.
