Mori: Playing in the River-Boca derbies will help prepare me for the weekend
Everton new boy Ramiro Funes Mori believes that his experience of playing in the River Plate V Boca Juniors derby matches will help prepare him for this weekends Merseyside Derby.
He feels that having experienced the madness of the Argentinian derbies it will help him to acclimatise to the English version should he get the nod for the game against their city rivals – Liverpool.
“I played in lots of derbies. I scored in one and we won the game.
“The atmosphere of those games is very intense, the people are cheering and screaming and it’s crazy.
“You feel the adrenaline when you play in those games. People are singing the whole 90 minutes and cheering for their team, you are very nervous and excited and it’s very intense at all times
“You’ve got two rivals in the same city. Playing in the River-Boca games means I will maybe be more comfortable playing in the derby.
“It’ll prepare me for them. I’d expect it’s going to be intense and the adrenaline will be high.
“I scored 10 goals during my time at River Plate, for a defender that’s a high total. Hopefully I can keep that record going at Everton.”
“I’m a strong player, and fast. I’m good in the air and I like to come out of the back playing and use the ball.
“I want to work hard here, train hard all the time and help Everton win games.
“I am an aggressive player and always like to go hard for every ball. To play in the Argentine league you need to be physically tough.
“It’s not as intense as the Premier League but it’s a hard game.”
Do you think Mori will start the derby match?
