McCarthy expecting a battle against Burnley
Everton midfielder James McCarthy expects a tough match against the Premier Leagues bottom side Burnley on Sunday but says that his team are certainly going to try and get 3 points.
New to the Premier League, Burnley have found it tough so far but have picked up 4 draws in their 8 games so far, so McCarthy knows that they can’t underestimate their hard working opponents.
“They’re new to the league and I’m sure the manager will go over a few things with us to make sure we’re ready,” the Republic of Ireland international told evertontv. “They’ve not been so far away from results. They’ve been picking up points here and there and we won’t underestimate them as a team.
“We know they’ve got quality and we know it’s not going to be an easy game, but we’re definitely going there looking to take maximum points.”
McCarthy also says that the Evertonians that travelled in their Droves to Lille were brilliant and they appreciate their support.
“It’s different class,” he added. “Since I’ve been here, the fans have been brilliant with myself, as well as the team.
“We took who knows how many to Lille and it’s another sell-out on Sunday. It’s just brilliant.
“It’s brilliant for the Club and it’s brilliant to have them there as our 12th man.”
