Martinez: That win took character and winning mentality
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has praised his sides winning mentality following a “satisfying win” over West Ham United at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Everton beat a strong West Ham side 2-1 following a late goal from Leon Osman and the Spaniard praised the character and personality of his side which gave him immense satisfaction.
Martinez said: “That is the most satisfying win we have had this season, although you will see games that are more glamorous. You know you have been in a game, it is one of those wins you get through character, personality, winning mentality and that gives me a real satisfaction.”
On Osman’s contribution, he added: “I thought he was outstanding throughout the game. He was marshalling the back four and dictating the play so the last player you expect on a counter-attack was Leon Osman. It is a reflection of what he is as a footballer and it was a fitting goal. He is a great ambassador for our football club.”

That was a very weak West Ham side and they would still be out there taking speculative shots if they hadn’t got a mad deflection,before they looked anywhere near scoring.Take away Rom’s goal,miles offside and that aberation and we would still have won it,not to mention a few chances that you would put your house on for Rom and Sammy.If we had had another ref though I reckon there could have been some red cards dished out,on both sides.Please Dunc if you read this sort of thing,take the urine mercilessly from Ross about his dying fly act too,he is much better than that.Big Sam you could have a word with your lads about piling in when they feel aggrieved too,they may get themselves at best sent off and at worst put on their arses by lads who don’t feel intimidated by all that posturing. Sad display from two quality outfits in my opinion. .
The Barkley dive was shameful Win and the second time he has done it. Agreed that Dunc should have a word and try and stamp it out while he is young.
