    Martinez: Were excited to see Barkley develop into a very special player

    Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been purring about the recent performances of young England midfielder Ross Barkley and he believes that the midfielder has gone onto a different level.

    Speaking on the back of the 2-1 against Reading in the Capital One cup Martinez feels that his young midfielder is always controlling the big moments and is performing above the level of someone his age.

    “Ross has gone to a different level,” said Martinez “For someone so young to have 100 games for our Club is an immense landmark, but he’s a completely different player to what we saw last season.

    “His maturity and the fact he is always controlling the big moments – he had to be the one scoring that equalising goal. His overall performance was of someone much older.

    “We’re extremely pleased and excited to see him develop into a very special player.”
