Martinez: We want a fit Pienaar next season
Everton manager Roberto Martinez says the club are desperate to have a fit and raring to go Steven Pienaar for next season and he needs a good pre-season to get him ready.
Pienaar returned to first team action in the draw against Swansea but missed the win over Burnley with muscle fatigue, but Martinez says that is just a short-term problem.
“It was more muscular fatigue from the work he did at Swansea but it is going to be short-term,” Martinez said.
“We need to get him fit but it is not a big, big issue.
“His knee was a big problem and all of the problems that come from the mechanics of the knee.
“You get those seasons where you get one problem after another because you are trying to catch up.
“So we hope with a period in the summer we will be able to refresh and readjust him to get him ready for pre-season and set him up for a positive campaign next season.”
Have Everton missed Pienaar this season?
