Roberto Martinez has confirmed once again that there are deals in the pipeline to reward four Everton players that are wanted as the core of the Everton team for a while to come.
James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, Ross Barkley and John Stones are the players in question, all of whom have been impressing greatly the Everton faithful.
McCarthy and Coleman will be vying for this years Player of the Season in a Blue shirt, while Ross Barkley has been nominated for the Young Player of the Season throughout the entire league. John Stones is quickly becoming a fans favourite with his impressive displays in defence where he can not only defend, but also bring the ball out from the back and lead others, all at the age of 19.
Martinez told the Echo: “As I always say we are not going to come out in the press and media and do our business that way,
“But as a football club we will always reward players that perform and develop well.
“We will always work hard behind the scenes to deal and work with those in an efficient manner.
“And when we’ve done something the fans will be the first to find out.
“We have got a very strong core of experienced players and the signing of Tim Howard, alongside Leighton Baines and Sylvain Distin on new deals, is a massive message.
“And then we have a young group who we are going to allow to develop in our football club and be given the time, patience and the focus that they deserve to grow in to the potential we know they have.
“We always try to go from window to window trying to get in a stronger position in terms of the squad.
“We will never change that.”
Many an Evertonian will be hoping not only that this news is true, but also that other deals are lined up to improve the team ahead of next season, with a supposed large cash sum, in Everton standards, free to spend in the summer.
