Martinez: The performances have been better than the results have shown

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has risked being charged with fraud after declaring that the peformances this season have been better than the results have shown.

Martinez has risked the wrath of Evertonians across the globe by saying that we have actually played well this season, despite many supporters feeling that our style has become stale and turgid.

“We need to look back at some of the big moments we had at the start of the season and we can’t forget that,” Martinez said.

“We will never stop trying to play football or being a very good team it is that in the last few weeks, results haven’t come our way.

“The Christmas period was very tough but we have come through that now.

“I am very positive and very much optimistic and, once again, that will be down to the support of our fans.

    “Hopefully we can repay them.

“We are very much aware of some of the criticism and feeling.

“We are not happy with the results we’ve had but we are ready to help each other and get through this period with strong desire and a more stubborn mentality.”

“Of course, we are the first ones who are frustrated,” the Everton boss said.

“There was one performance that wasn’t good enough and that was against Hull.

“But the performances have been better than the results have shown and that is a frustration.

“When results are not going well there is a big fashion to be critical of our football club but proper Evertonians are showing their support and are realistic and are understanding that we have played a lot better than the results show.”
