Martinez looking for 2 more transfers – Reponds to Van Dijk speculation
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has told journalists that he is looking to fill 2 more positions this summer and responded to reports that the club are set to sign Celtic defender Virgil Van Dijk.
The Catalan did say that they would only sign players that fit within the group they currently have and must be the right fit as players and also people.
When quizzed on Van Dijk the boss said that it would be disrespectful to talk about another teams player. He did confirm that centre-half is one of the positions they are looking to fill.
“That’s the nature of this period, you are going to be linked with players,” said Martinez. “I don’t enjoy talking about other players when they are not at our club and I will never be disrespectful in that manner.”
“Our squad is not complete. We are still looking for two positions and we need to make sure they fit exactly in the group in the manner we want and expect as footballers and people. Central defence is one of those positions. Two experienced centre-halves left the squad, so we need to fill those gaps,”
Would Van Dijk be a good fit for Everton?

I’m convinced that this man is insane, if he thinks we need only 2 signings to complete the squad then he is in need of medical attention
Toppo yr spot on mate! The man’s a joke & more I think about it, wish we’d sacked Martinez in Feb and got the West Ham new bloke! Also we’ve been linked with Van Dijk & Sergi Roberto for over a month, so why the f— haven’t we signed them both??????
I wish the sodding window was closed. This reminds me so much of the Lescott saga. Stones,Macca and Rom all being tipped to leave with no time to find adequate replacements and a very challenging fixture list almost all the way to Christmas.I hope RM has a lucky season this time as I have so little residual faith in the guy now
