Martinez: Lennon helps the defence, he helps the team
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been heaping praise on the attitude and performances of on-loan Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon.
The 27 year old winger has started to impress for Everton now that he has settled into the team and Martinez is impressed not only with his attacking play, but the way he works had to help his defence too.
Martinez said: “Since day one when he arrived, he has wanted to contribute and be a part of the team. I thought his performance against Newcastle was [at the time] his best since he arrived.
“He came along to Kyiv as part of the group and shared the emotions – and that showed at QPR. He had a real will to show he had fresh legs and could help the team, and I thought that was his best performance by far.
“It wasn’t just because he scored the goal, which is always significant away from home, but also in the manner he worked for the team. Defensively he was a real help and he looked like a player who has been with this group of players for a long time. That pleased me a lot.”
“What we want to see is Aaron enjoying his football in the next seven games and see where that takes us,”

Rule number 1 – if you buy a player from Spurs you get shafted.
Rule number 2 – don’t spend limited transfer funds and wages on bringing in players who are past their 27th birthday. The Manager has already done that 5 times – Alcaraz, Kone, Barry (3yrs contract at 33 years old !!!!), Eto’o, McGeady. £25m+ spent already not counting the rest of their contracts. .
If this continues we will not be in the Premier League in a few years time.
I wish Aaron Lennon every success playing for Everton but we must say goodbye with our good wishes in the summer.
