Martinez: Leandro will be in the first team shortly
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has said that he expects Uruguayan striker Leandro Rodriguez to be in contention for the first team shortly and it could start with Reading next week.
The hitman has impressed the blues manager and the Catalan says he is impressed by his attitude and recent performances and when he is ready he will be brought in to help.
He said: “I think the idea was always to give him good footballing experiences and see how quickly he adapts and can help the team.
“It’s been really interesting to understand the two games he’s played so far.
“In terms of what he brings to the team – he’s an out and out goalscorer. He’s got a knack of finding a way to score goals and that’s a phenomenal attribute to have. I’ve been very impressed by how he’s adapted and with his attitude.
“I don’t expect him to be too far away from being in contention to help the team. We’ve got two games now in a very short period of time when it’ll be important for everyone to be ready. I don’t expect Leandro to be too far from that.
Do you think Leandro will make the squad to face Reading?
