Martinez: Jelavic goes with our blessing
Roberto Martinez has been talking about his decision to accept an offer from Hull City for Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic. The blues accepted an offer days after Jelavic hit a brace of goals in the FA cup against Queens Park Rangers. Martinez says that Jelavic’s desire to play in the World Cup was the reason for accepting the offer and he understands that the player has been frustrated and that he needed to find first team football.
Martinez told evertontv: “We’ve agreed terms with Hull City and obviously that’s why Niki has been allowed to speak to them about personal terms and to decide if it’s the right move.
“I’ve said before that Niki has been a terrific professional from day one and has been working really, really hard and on the pitch and has been giving us always something different to the side.
“But I accept his frustration and I understand at this moment of his career the World Cup is just around the corner, and I think it’s only right to allow him to make a decision that is going to benefit him when Brazil arrives.
“From our point of view, if he decides to join another club he’s going to go with our blessing and with us wishing him the best of luck. I’m sure every Everton fan will share my point of view in that respect.”
