Martinez impressed with Cleverley influence
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been praising new signing Tom Cleverley for his influence over the team and feels that the midfielder will carry on getting better.
Cleverley started against Watford and looks set to keep his place in the team and Martinez feels that the England international has hit the ground running at the club.
“That’s what we brought Tom in for, that character,” Martinez said. “He’s a full international for England and he brings you that know-how and that responsibility.
“He is a player that is fitting into the dressing room so well and he is ready to take responsibility. He’s a trusted footballer and I thought his influence on the game [against Watford] was very significant.
“He’ll carry on growing, he’ll carry on getting better and I think people forget how young he still is in footballing terms and we are just delighted to see how quickly he has hit the ground running with us.”
