    Martinez: Gareth Barry is an incredible leader and a Unique footballer

    Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been heaping praise on loan signing Gareth Barry ahead of the Merseyside derby.  Barry who signed on loan for a year from mega-rich Manchester City has been winning plaudits for helping Everton chase for a Champions league place.

    Martinez has said that Barry can stay at Everton for as long as he wants and also that he should be helping England at this summers World Cup in Brazil.

    “Gareth knows that he can stay at Everton as long as he wants to,” said the Spaniard.

    “He is a unique footballer. When he came here, I wanted him to be very important for Everton, to enjoy his football.

    “He is enjoying his football. He is an incredible leader. All I want is for him to keep doing this until the end of the season and then, in my eyes, he should be helping England in the World Cup.”
