Martinez: Deulofeu is doing really well
Everton Manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that on-loan Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu is doing really well and that his medical team are in close contact with the Barcelona medical staff (Where Deulofeu is currently recovering).
He stepped short of saying when the young Spaniard would be back.
“He is progressing very well,” Martinez told evertontv. “We have had our own member of the medical department going over to Barcelona and spending some good time with Gerard.
“He is doing really well. It was a bit more of a complicated injury because it affected the tendon, something which we need to be sure has healed because it could get re-injured very easily, especially with the type of player that Gerard is; a sprinter.”
The manager added: “We reassess him every three days and from that we get a clear idea where he is. At the moment he is regenerating really well and hopefully it will carry on with no set-backs.”
The club have also confirmed that Seamus Coleman suffered a soft tissue injury, but has also started his rehabilitation to try and get back in contention for a first team place for the Merseyside derby next week.
Steven Pienaar and Ross Barkley are also facing a race to be ready for the game against Liverpool.
