Martinez complains to head of referees about decisions
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has complained to the head of the Professional Match Game Officials, Mike Riley, about some key decisions that he feels have cost his team this season as they look to get their season back on track.
Everton feel aggrieved about some appalling refereeing displays this season and Martinez has now made his feelings clear to Mike Riley.
“I have contacted Mike Riley about it,” said Martinez. “They accept there’s been an honest error made, but there have been too many now.
“I always feel the referees are part of the game and the error of the referee makes the game what it is.
“That’s part of the debate for fans, but it’s tough to take when you’ve got six or seven big calls which didn’t go your way and could have been so different and the scorelines could have changed.
“I’m a bit romantic on that and I still believe over the course of the season, they are going to level up. So watch this space for the next six games!”
