Lukaku: I told Barkley he needs to score more
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku says that he told Ross Barkley at the start of the season that he needs to score more and assist more this season, but says the young English midfielder was brilliant against Southampton.
Barkley has scored twice this season and assisted once and Lukaku says that he needs to be up there with the best players in the league as he has the quality.
“Ross was brilliant on Saturday,” Lukaku said.
“The midfielders made it so much easier for me, Ross and Arouna. We had that freedom to inter-change position and defensively we tried to help as well.
“I am told him at the start of the season that he needs to score more and make more assists.
“He is 21-years-old and nearly 22-years-old and he needs to be up there with the best players in the League because he has the qualities.”
How many will Barkley score this season?
