Kevin Mirallas isn’t good enough for Everton

Kevin Mirallas isn’t good enough for Everton in my opinion.  I probably need to word it a little better though, so I’ll try Kevin Mirallas isn’t consistent enough for Everton.  When he plays well he is the best player on the pitch and can astound supporters with trickery, skill and pace, but when he is poor he stinks the place out.

Stats may well show that he has created the most chances in the league this season at 4 but he simply goes missing in games and as a wing man that can cost us.  Stats can often mask other things and I would be interested to see where this number falls at the end of the season, at the end of the day – Mirallas is a winger – therefore we should expect him to create more chances.

Roy think Mirallas goes missing. Do you agree?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want us to utilise Kevin Mirallas like David Moyes used to, where the Belgian was defending more often.  I just feel that Mirallas should have a bigger impact on the game and I don’t feel like he can do this consistently and therefore in my opinion I don’t feel he has a place in the Everton team.

    1. Not sure I agree with you Roy. I can see your point in the fact he hasn’t played as well this season, but he is a man that can transform games and win matches on his own.

    2. What a stupid opinion. Lets replace him with who exactly? Naismith? He’s championship standard at best. Talk about he needs to be creating more chances yet contradict yourself by sayig he’s created the most assits in the league. Just ask fans of other teams what Everton players they’d take. Behind Baines it’s always Mirallas who they would want, and they says a lot. Not to mention the fact he is playing out of position, he is a striker and if he isnt playing there he should be out of the left not right. Yes, he isn’t playing anywhere near his best but he’s doing nowhere as bad as some people are trying to make out. And as for making chances, he’s made the most in our team. Pienar, Naismith and Osman have played far worse than him.

      • Well ,sorry but I think his argument is valid and I think he is too lightweight
I don’t think the point is him or Naismith at all he just isn’t doing enough and it doesn’t matter who the replacement is as long as he does more because he has 4 assists doesn’t mean it is enough
I don’t think the staff see him behind Lukaku but it is probably his best position
We might see Deulafeu at the derby but he again is too small and too light and is bullied most of the time
We all love these players but they are a bit out of date ,the game is so physical today

    3. I don’t agree or disagree I think there is a place for him here but there is something not right with him at the moment. could be tactics, remember we don’t know what Martinez is asking him to do and until he has a problem with him then he will have a place in the team.

also as a fan of Naismith I don’t see why he takes so much stick, no one puts as much effort in as he does. not to mention he put the ball in the RS net.

    4. It’s not he’s not good enough exactly but he’s not been good enough often enough this season – lets hope he’s not another Bily, starting promisingly but not fulfilling his potential. Time will tell – if Barkley is to be rested I would be tempted to start with Gerard out wide and play Mirallas behind the forward….

    5. He’s a shithouse! End of! He’s got all the class in the world but no aggression! We need our midfield to attack the box more! McCarthy and Barry retain the ball well and Barkley runs at players but his decision making isn’t great! Shoots when he shouldn’t n passes when he should shoot! But if we really wanna go out and win the derby then I think either Barry or McCarthy have to start on the bench! Naismith is a big game player and he has a habit of popping up in the right place because he attacks the box so he should start in the hole behind the striker with Barkley and IMO McCarthy in the middle with pienaar n miralllas out wide! I think if the team is set up to attack then we might see a more aggressive Kevin miralllas! If there’s more to aim at in the middle! Gaz baz could always be brought on to sure things up if need be but I’m fed up of seeing our midfielders on the edge of the box and Lukaku the only one in the middle man marked out the game! Jelavic was prolific in his first season coz defenders couldn’t stay tight to him with Cahill making runs witch struck fear into their eyes! But since he left our strikers wether it be jela/vic/Lukaku have seemed stranded up top on there own!

Another little point to think about… Fans across the country took the piss out the shite all last season for winning the possession game but not winning matches…. But now they’re playing 2 up front can’t stop the bastards scoring! Well were winning the possession so why not throw 2up front or at least someone in behind

      • Totally with you. Mirallas should be in behind Lukaku. They would cause real issues with those 2 up top. I think Martinez would then have an issue on where to play Barkley as it would mean not being able to play Barry and McCarthy together.

    6. I have to agree with a lot Roy has said about Mirallas, he flatters to deceive more often than not, his first ten minutes on the pitch usually tell us what we are going to get out of him? A lad who sits by me in the park end likens Mirallas to Peter Beagrie!!I must say for the lad that he could be much more effective played alongside Lukaku but will RM ever try this…

    7. I do agree with the argument to an extent. I just thought the headline was pathetic click bait.

He isn’t consistent enough, but when he plays well, he’s as good as any wing player in the league.

    8. Disagree this guy has the quality and potential their isnt one player in the prem that plays at his best for 38 matches is their??????????

    9. …and Darren Corless nails this one. Flair players are always more noticeably inconsistent especially when they play a pivotal role like Mirallas does. Who’d notice if Naismith had a bad match…its more of a shock when he produces something!.

Mirallas is quality, his form has dipped and he needs to get back on top of his game, he’s still quality though.
