Jags: Aston Villa are going to be very dangerous
Everton skipper Phil Jagielka is expecting a very busy time during the game against Aston Villa and says that even if talented striker Christian Benteke doesn’t start the game, they will still have to watch out for pacey striker Gabby Agbonglahor.
Benteke has been out for months with injury, but has slowly worked his way back and has a few weeks of training under his belt and Jagielka believes that Villa will be strong following their 1-0 victory over Liverpool before the international break.
“We are not sure how fit he [Benteke] is going to be. But even if he’s not playing, Gabriel Agbonlahor up front means its still going to be a busy afternoon.
“They like to play on the counter-attack, but we are fully aware of their threats. We need to make sure we nullify that and show some of our own.”
“They will enjoy coming to Merseyside again having had a good result across the park at Liverpool (Villa won 1-0). They seem to have found a bit of confidence this season and found a way of playing. It seems to have taken the manager a little longer to instil that in his players but they have started off well.
“They are getting one or two players back fit – Christian Benteke will have had a couple more weeks of training. They are going to be very dangerous but we know we need to think about ourselves.
“We need to go out full throttle and hopefully put in a good performance, cut out the silly mistakes that we keep making most games and come out with three points.”
