Jagielka says it will be strange playing against Jelavic
Everton skipper Phil Jagielka has said that it will be strange facing former team mate Nikica Jelavic this weekend after the Croatian hit man joined Hull City in January.
Jela was a popular member of the squad but left Goodison Park to pursue his World Cup dream and has impressed in his short time with the Yorkshire club, but Jagielka wants to put old friendships to one side for 90 minutes and repay the travelling fans with a win.
“It will be a bit strange. Jela was here for a couple years and was a great part of the team,” Jagielka told evertontv.
“It was sad to see him go but we all understood that he needed to go and play football for his future and World Cup dream. Hopefully he will be playing in the Croatia team in Brazil.
“But we would like to finish with a win. We have had a bit of an unfortunate run of results these last few weeks and we would like to finish on a high.
“I’m sure we will take plenty of fans to Hull and it would be nice if we can send them off in style.
“Then we’ll say goodbye to most of the players for a few weeks. Hopefully some of us will be playing in Brazil and after that has finished we will all look forward to next season.”
