Jagielka: Were excited to get Lennon on the pitch
Everton skipper Phil Jagielka has said that the dressing room has really helped Aaron Lennon settle in at the club and says that a few of the lads are from around Yorkshire, so that has helped the Leeds native to sette.
Jagielka has also said that he is excited to get Lennon on the pitch due to some of the things that he has seen in training and he hopes that Azza can show what a good player he is in the Premier League.
“Quite a few of the boys know him, whether by playing in the Under-21s or senior side with England,” he explained. “Some of us have played against him quite a few times as well. Azza is also from Leeds and a few of the lads are from around that way. So he has settled in easy enough.
“He had a nice little cameo for his debut against Liverpool – which is a tough game to come into!
“We have seen a lot of stuff in training that makes us excited to get him out there and involved in more games.
“He is not able to play in the Europa League so hopefully we can keep him fresh for Premier League games. Hopefully Aaron can come in and prove how good he is as a player.”
“Aaron is not a particularly quiet lad and when he came in, he went to speak to everyone,” he continued. “But it is nice when you come to a new club that you do know three or four friendly faces. They in turn can introduce you to three or four more of the lads and so on.
“That is the way it is here. We are lucky enough to have all different types of lads and everyone is pretty easy to get on with. Aaron comes in and sits with the lads like he has been here months and not just days.
“Hopefully that will help him settle in and we can get his best football out of him.”
