Italians target Everton defender
Italian club Roma have reignited their interest in Everton defender Johnny Heitinga according to Football Italia.
The Dutch defender will leave Goodison Park this month to try and secure a place in the Holland world cup squad and Roma looked to have moved to pole position. Heitinga told Everton fans that were watching the team train in Tenerife that he was likely to move abroad and a move to Roma would be a decent club for Heitinga to join.
Heitinga recently turned down a move to West Ham and had also been linked to Fulham and Newcastle United, although he also told the fans in Tenerife that he had not heard of any Newcastle interest.
Heitinga’s contract is up in the summer so he would only command a minimal fee, unless Everton released him on a free transfer to free up his wages.
