    Italian is Martinez first choice for defender transfer

    Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna is Roberto Martinez number 1 choice for a defensive transfer despite our sources telling us a move for Scott Dann should be completed shortly.

    The Liverpool Echo says that the 27 year old Italian is number 1 priority for Martinez over Dann and Genk defender Kara Mbodj is also on the list.

    Martinez is looking for replacements for Antolin Alcaraz and Sylvain Distin who are both leaving Goodison Park after their contracts end.

    Ogbonna is a left sided central defender who can also play at full-back and is currently 3rd choice for Juventus, despite an £11m move 2 years ago.

    Ogbonna played 30 times for Juve last season.
