Gordon Strachan: You won’t see Steven Naismith hide
Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has paid a massive compliment to Everton forward Steven Naismith and says that the Scot has a touch of class.
The versatile frontman has impressed his international manager with his work ethic as well as his skill and the little ginger says that Naismith is the type of player that won’t hide.
He said: “I think Steven is a treat for a manager because, when you pick him, you know fine well what you are going to get.
“He might not always be magnificent but he’s workman-like with a touch of class at times.
“Whatever happens during a game, he is never going to be hiding. You are always going to see him one way or another.”
“He has got better and better.” Strachan continued. “As a kid, he was an out-and-out winger at Kilmarnock and went to Rangers and played up front. Now he is in a position where he can utilise his talents of being a winger and a frontman.
“He can float in and out of different positions and is always a threat. If you want to push up, he can run in behind. If you want to play deeper he will come and take the ball.
“It’s handy if you have got all these assets in a player.”
