Galloway: Lukaku told me to cross early, I work on it in training
Everton youngster Brendan Galloway has revealed that advice from striker Romelu Lukaku before the match against Chelsea helped to make his mind up about his early cross for Steven Naismith to score the opening goal.
Galloway revealed that Lukaku had had a word in his ear about getting the ball in nice and quick before the game and as soon as he had a chance that is what he concentrated on.
He said: “I didn’t even think about it. As soon as Naisy played it to me, I just put it across.
“Rom had a word with me before the game about getting the ball into the box, because we knew we could really hurt Chelsea.
“As soon as it was played out to me, I just took one touch, saw Naisy running in there and picked him out. The rest was up to him and he did superbly.”
“It’s something that I like to work on in training – getting forward and really hurting teams,” he said. “Going forward I want to do that as well and I’ll train hard every day to keep it going.”
Galloway was also impressed with the performance against Chelsea and is glad that they went for the jugular.
He added: “It was something special. I felt like the whole team performed at their best. We went out all guns blazing and worked really hard for each other, and that was really important.”
