Galloway: I always reflect on things and I’m hungry for more this season

Everton youngster Brendan Galloway is excited for this season as he looks to progress from the first team outings he made at the expense of the injured Leighton Baines last season.

Galloways says that the outings he made last season were the best 2 weeks of his life and he will reflect on that and it will help him become more hungry this season.

“I always reflect on things,” he told evertontv. “I enjoyed it all and it makes me more hungry for this season. That was the best two weeks of my life and I want it to happen a lot more this year.

“The coaches told me I’d done well, to keep my head down and if I did that, the opportunity would come again, so I’ve had my head down this week in Austria and worked as hard as I can to impress.

“I had a nice break – I went away with my friends and family for a bit. It’s always good to take your mind off football but I’m happy to be back and training again.

“I’m feeling good. We’re back at it now so I’m fully focused for the Season and challenges ahead.”

Speaking of David Unsworth and Roberto Martinez, Galloway continued: “They are two great coaches and I worked with both of them a lot last season,” he added.

“David Unsworth played in the same position and played a lot of games in the Premier League for Everton. He passes his experience on to me and lets me know what it’s like to be a Premier League defender. I’m really thankful for that.

“Roberto is a great manager. He knows his stuff and it’s really good to be learning from the best.”

He explained: “I’d played at left-back for Indy – he’d seem me play there and he wanted me to get really comfortable at both positions, so when I got the opportunity, I felt comfortable. It wasn’t anything new to me.

“I really like to play out from the back when it’s right – so does Unsy. He wants us to do it and be composed on the ball. That helps us when we play in the first team because that’s the style we play here at Everton.

“Now I’m looking forward to getting minutes and getting really fit again. Games always help and are the best way to get your fitness up.”

Will Galloway get much of a chance this season?
