Everton want to sign Southampton defender
Everton are interested in signing Southampton defender Jose Fonte according to Sky Sports News HQ Transfer Centre.
Aston Villa are set to hold talks with the Portuguese defender, but Everton are also in the hunt as they look for experienced back up for John Stones and Phil Jagielka.
31 year old Fonte has seen a number of his defensive partners leave Saint Marys but he has cemented himself as a mainstay of the team leading by example.
Fonte has had a varied career, but really excelled since joining Southampton.

Not a chance. Stupidest thing I’ve heard all week. Why would saints unsettle the squad further by letting a first team regular, and captain go. And why would Fonte go when he’s a first team regular and captain of a club he’s helped bring all this way and into Europe, just to take a backwards step and go to Everton or Villa. Laughable.
Backwards step to Everton your not real mate, you have one half decent season an think your world beaters, consisently playing top flight football and I don’t mean for a couple of seasons might give you the right to say. if a player is taking a backward step. As for saints further upsetting there squad you’ve already done it (again) with Alderwiereld a player on loan who you couldn’t capture permanently, face it lad if a decent player wants to leave Saints HE WILL GO……

How old are you? 7? If you were any older you would realise we do consistently play top flight football. We are 12th in the all time PL table.
Utter drivel from Sky. I am sure Vila would like talk to him but why would he move.
I heard he’s not happy playing in Europa or being squad captain as its got him picked by his national squad too so even more games he has to play – so even after signing an extended contract when these offers come from Vila or Everton the chance at playing less was too good to turn down
