Everton to update on new Stadium tonight

Everton to update on new Stadium tonight

Everton fans will get an update on the progress of the new stadium plans from Chief Executive Officer Robert Elstone at tonights general meeting with the Everton FC Shareholders Association.

Rumours of a new stadium at Walton Hall Park have been doing the rounds and CEO Elstone has been spending up to a third of his time working on a new development.

The location (following the failed Kings Dock and Destination Kirkby projects) and funding are key issues that the club hopes to overcome and with positive talks with Liverpool City Council, it is hoped that the new plans are not too far away as the club looks to move on to the next level.

Mr Elstone will take questions from shareholders and will update on any news tonight at the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic from 7pm

Do you think these new plans will be better than the last botched attempts?  Comment below or have your say on our special stadium thread on The Everton Forum here: https://www.theevertonforum.co.uk/forum/threads/everton-%E2%80%9Cexciting%E2%80%9D-stadium-plans-progressing-but-funding-needed.17721/

    1. This is so important, really. Every club who have moved have had a dip in form when the move occurred. Arsenal have shown it can be done, without slipping too far,but they have lost a few big names to pay for it and have not won the PL since leaving Highbury. City were sold on the back of their move, eventually and look where they have ended up. Goodison is resistant to further upgrade, without wholesale destruction of the local area and I can’t see that being allowed. No point rehashing the Kirkby debacle, although I still think partnership with Tesco would have been OK,and I still don’t regard it as too far out of town.I guess wherever we move to there will be a vociferous opposition from some quarters, some justifiably feeling such great affection for the old lady that they will be loath to go anywhere else. And inevitably there will be some who suggest that pockets are being filled on the back of their club. Just so long as those clamouring for the status quo are content to contemplate a future where other teams round and about us are playing in sparkling venues and being courted by serious money, because they can repay the outlay, given an attractive brand and successful participation in all competitions. BK is in favour of Walton Hall apparently, but how the council square that with their constituents is another matter. Maybe it would be a straight swap of space and Goodison would be developed for the good of the community, just so long as it isn’t slated to be a coach park for the other lot.
