    Everton still tracking England youth defender but face Arsenal competition

    Everton still have an eye on young Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez but face competition for the highly rated centre-back from Arsenal and Newcastle United according to the Metro.

    Everton have long been tracking the 17 year old and if they could pull off the coup, Gomez would be added to the ranks of impressive young defenders with John Stones, Brendan Galloway and Luke Garbutt all still 21 or under.

    Gomez rose to prominence by winning the Under 16 Euros alongside the skipper Everton youngster Ryan Ledson and has forced his way into the Charlton first team this season making 21 appearances for the first team.
