Everton star Deulofeu expected to miss up to 4 months

According to Everton boss Roberto Martinez, Spanish wingman Gerard Deulofeu may not be ready until the final 3rd of the season, meaning the Barca loanee could miss up to 4 months of the season.

The news is a massive blow to Everton as the highly rated teen sensation had just looked to have adapted to life in England and put in a number of very good performances, including a goal against Arsenal before injuring his hamstring in the draw against Fulham.

Roberto Martinez said: “Gerard’s injury is a negative. He’s a sprinter and he’s pulled his hamstring.

“We don’t know how big the tear is but we expect him to be out for a little bit of time.

“We have to be patient to get him ready for an important final third of the season.”

Deulofeu is expected to under go a scan to access the severity of the injury, but it is expected that he will be out for a few months at the very least.

    1. Don’t over dramatise. We don’t know how bad the soft tissue damage is. It may well be between 3 and 6 weeks yet. I know El Bob said final third of the season but some reports suggest he’s out for Christmas and could be back mid Jan. 4 months is the end of the season – April – May, not the final third.

    2. Don’t know about your maths here but 4 months out would mean he’d be back in mid April, ready to play the final 8th of the season. Personally think he’ll be back in February

    3. oh I did read “up-to”. it’s still ridiculous with a headline that is way overblown and obviously designed to be sensationalist. 4 months is the last 8th of the season.Lets take a leaf out of El Bob’s book and be a little more optimistic instead of this sort of pessimistic drivel. Wish the lad a speedy recovery and hope he can light train in Jan.

    4. I’d suggest he may be back to face Spurs away if all goes well. That’s 8 Feb. Hamstrings are bad injuries and it’s at least 6 weeks if treated properly and there are no other setbacks. Exectly the same as what happened to Mirallas.

    5. So Deulofeu has not even had a scan and you are speculating that he could be out for up to 4 months. In any case the final third of season is only 9 league games away and 2 months from now.
