Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido insists he will not be shortchanged by any of the clubs trying to sign striker Alvaro Negredo.
The forward, who was the highest scoring Spaniard in the Primera Division last season, has reportedly been targeted by both Tottenham and Atletico Madrid and has indicated he would like to leave Andalusia.
Two days ago, Del Nido told the club’s official television channel that his hand had been forced by Negredo’s desire to leave, while claiming there were two offers – one from a “foreign” club – on the table for the player.
But in an apparent U-turn, Del Nido today said he wanted the forward to stay put and was adamant that any club planning to sign the hitman will have to meet his asking price.
“We are not going to undersell Negredo or any other player,” he told AS. “If you ask me I would like him to stay.
“I hope he does and continues to score many goals for Sevilla. We are used to the pressure there is in these cases but we are evidently not going to undersell him.”
He added: “He will only go if the right offer arrives. If it doesn’t, he will stay, he has another four years left on his contract.”
Sevilla have already sanctioned one big-money sale this summer, allowing Spain international Jesus Navas to join Manchester City for an estimated £25million fee.
