Everton slip behind in striker chase, but still interested

Everton slip behind in striker chase

Everton have slipped behind Leicester as favourites in the race for Wolves striker Bakary Sako according to the Birmingham Mail and the Express.

Sako is a free agent after his Wolverhampton Wanderers contract came to an end and wants to play in the Premier League.

The 27 year old scored 15 goals in the Championship last season with a further 10 assists and is wanted by Everton, Leicester and Aston Villa on a free transfer.

He said: “I have some offers from the Premier League and some from abroad, but I want to play in the Premier League.”

His agent said he is due to make a decision very soon.

Would Sako be a good signing for Everton?

    1. Being a Wolves fan there are a number of observations concerning Sako, although he is a good player and I wish he was still with us he is NOT premiership quality, a very good championship player without doubt.
As for deciding which club to join then it’s a no brainer, Everton, Leicester, Villa or the unmentionables, bloody hell it’s Everton every time, he has said (when still at the Wolves) that it’s not about money? So why go to Leicester were there is every chance that they will be back were they belong in the championship after this season, besides one would have more chance of winning honours with Everton than with any of the clubs mentioned – no disrespect to them meant.
Also hopefully my club will be passing Leicester by us going up and they coming down, if we do go up this season I hope we don’t go for Sako!

      • Thanks John. I certainly don’t think he is the standard to take us to where we want to be, but he fits in our cost bracket!! I certainly hope Wolves can get back up where they belong. I think Sako could have helped you do that as you have a decent manager!

We do need back up to Lukaku though, so stranger things have happened.

    2. sako is a great player on his day but does have a lot of off days, if he can be more consistent he will be a quality free signing for you. strong and powerful with a cracking left foot but does go missing. hes a very likeable character and we will miss him though.

    3. Wolves fans didn’t think Lescott would make a Premier League player and he did fine. Sako is a match winner, and players like that are hard to find. Consistent no. But he is the kind of player who can be ineffective for 80 minutes and then blast one into the top corner from 25 yards or produce a defence splitting pass to set up a chance. If you add together goals and assists he has been worth a goal every two games for Wolves so he us surely worth a chance at the top level.

      • Wolves fans definitely did think lescott would make a premier league player! To be honest I think Sako would do well in the premier league too – the only issue is that he does have quite a lot of off days

        • Hi Steve, read what Tom Hever says, he fully vindicates what i believe in Sako! He would be superb for Everton, naturally left footed, a replacement for Pienaar, give us balance as we had no-one wide left last season and scores loads 15 last season is excellent, And available on a FREE Roberto! Save the kitty for signing Shaqiri, Ayew & N’koulou! Job done, watch us fly then!!!

    4. Please Roberto sign Sako, he only scored 15 & 10 assists last season! Wolves top scorer & probably their best player!!! Available on a free, complete no brainer as they say! Could be a Cahill type signing, possibly better as he would cost nothing!!!

    5. As a wolves fan he is great going forward but can be a liability when he’s in his own half and in the premier league that can prove very costly, you just better hope he can show the form going forward that he has for the last three seasons at Wolves!

    6. Wolves fan here. Completely worth signing him. Superb player. Has his off days, but still seems to cause chaos in the opponents defence most games. Got a sweet left foot. Can score free kicks. Has the whole package. Fully deserves his chance in the PL and I’m certain he will do well at that level.
