Everton set to seal first signing of the season

Everton are set to sign their first player of the season in the next 10 days with the signing of midfielder Tom Cleverley on a 5 year contract from Manchester United.

Various newspaper outlets are leading with the story and the 25 year old is set to sign on a free transfer after turning down a move to Aston Villa.

Everton were favourites to land Cleverley last season before United started asking for more money and then Villa stepped in with a year long move, but Cleverley has finally got the move he wanted linking up with former boss Roberto Martinez.

The signing will prove a marmite signing for many Evertonians, with some thinking it is genius and some saying it is madness.  Time will tell which camp is correct.

Are you pleased with the potential signing of Tom Cleverley?

  1. I think we should sell Barry, then Cleverley is a straight swop and has more legs, hopefully he can pass the ball forward for a change, if not sell him next summer to Villa for 8M!!! Would have preferred Steven Defore tbh!
