Everton: Rushing Alcaraz back costs him another injury

Rushing Alcaraz back costs him another injury

Paraguayan defender Antolin Alcaraz faces another month on the sidelines after Everton were forced to rush him back for the Merseyside derby.

Alcaraz put in a below par performance alongside a not fully fit Phil Jagielka as the blues were trounced 4-0 by their city rivals and the Express is reporting that Alcaraz faces another spell on the sidelines.

The defender had missed three games through muscle fatigue having missed most of the season and it now seems that rushing him back may have caused him to be out for the next month.

The news will be a blow to Everton manager Roberto Martinez who has suffered a string of defensive injuries and recently sold Dutch defender Johnny Heitinga to Fulham.

    1. So please tell me how many appearances will make him financially viable. He and Kone will really need to attain some consistency and impact before they can justify their recruitment. The same could probably be leveled at Gibson too. After all they only played a few matches before breaking down with pre-existing injuries.I hope they bear this in mind before deciding whether to buy back Our Jack.

      • Think the problem with this one Win, is that we rushed him back at less than 75% fitness. He is on minimal wages and cost no transfer fee.

        • I understand that on this occasion we asked him to come in before fully fit. But, when he came in after surgery and was pronounced fully operational again, within a couple of games he was sidelined with muscle fatigue. I have to say I don’t really know what that is.When he plays he looks the ish and he has all the attributes of a good signing, but, only if he plays regularly. Why have him when Duffers could be completing his apprenticeship?
