Everton Player Ratings V Liverpool

Howard – 7 – Didn’t have much to do at all but when called upon for Sturridge getting through he did very well.

Coleman – 7 – Solid enough at the back but was hampered in attack through poor passes into him. Crossing was poor though.

Jagielka – 9 – Brilliant from our Captain Phil Jagielka. Stood up and was counted, nothing was getting past him yesterday.

Distin – 9 – Just as good. Great interceptions. He was determined to make amends from the derbies last year.

Baines – 6 – Again, not much got past him but there was one time that could have led to a goal if it was not for Jagielka. Attacking non-existant and set piece poor.

Mirallas – 6 – With flair players like the Belgian you’re going to get days where nothing comes off. That was yesterday.

Gibson – 7 – Can tell he’s nowhere near fully fit but still did his job reasonably well.

Osman – 7 – Started off really brightly but got tired as the game went on and started to pass him by. Barkley should take over him next season and he should be the sub.

Pienaar – 6 – Pretty much see Mirallas. Passing was also poor which was a shame.

Fellaini – 6 – At first it seemed he didn’t know where he was. Crying about challenges and not getting stuck in himself. Then he realised he was in a derby and was a little better, but still quite average.

Anichebe – 6 – Seemed a bit stranded and not involved enough. Everton desperately need a better striker.

Jelavic – 6 – Everton actually dominated more when he came on but individually he didn’t have much impact.

MOTM – Can’t split between Jagielka and Distin. Distin would have edged it had he been allowed that goal.
