Everton and Liverpool to battle for Barcelona defender

Merseyside clubs Everton and Liverpool are set to battle over wantaway Barcelona defender Martin Montoya in January according to La Liga Blog.

The 23 year old right back only signed a new 5 year contract in the summer, but according to reports new Barca boss Luis Enrique wants rid.

The youngster has only played once for the first team this season and is being linked with a number of top quality clubs including Inter Milan and Napoli.

It is expected that the defender will leave on loan with a view to a £7m move.
