Everton “exciting” Stadium plans progressing but funding needed

Everton CEO Robert Elstone confirmed at the recent quarterly meeting with the Everton Shareholders Association that plans for a new stadium are progressing along with backing from the council and if they had the funds in place then the club could move very quickly.

The meeting was held in December and Elstone confirmed that he was currently spending one and a half days per week looking into a new stadium which they hoped would provide “the most atmospheric home-end in world football”.

The club have been in consultation with Liverpool City Council to try and find a suitable site and said that plans are suitably progressed and if they could secure funding then the club could move very quickly.

Mr Elstone said the current project was  a ‘phenomenally exciting scheme’ with council buy-in and providing a significant amount of regeneration in Liverpool. He also explained that this was on the agenda for the forthcoming Board Meeting.
