Everton ban racist tweet season ticket holder

Everton football club have banned a season ticket holder who abused Everton fan Ric Wee over twitter and tagged the club into the tweet.

The club took the steps to take action after the fan tagged the club in and twitter has been awash with differing views of fans over whether this was the correct action.

Twitter user @whereareyaefc had sent a number of tweets to Ric Wee, an Everton fan from Malaysia who was a guest of the club after the match against Crystal Palace was cancelled earlier this season.  The game would have been Mr Wee’s first ever game at Goodison Park and he travelled thousands of miles to attend.  Mr Wee was eventually brought back to England to view the game via the clubs betting partner DaFaBet.

The fan concerned named as Mr Hunter has received a one year season ticket ban that can be renewed if he requests it in writing.  Mr Hunter has 7 days to appeal.

    1. Don’t write anything on Twitter that you wouldn’t say to someone’s face or paint in 6 foot high letters on the side of your house. Twitter is a form of self-publication. You wouldn’t publish something with racist language in it and expect no comeback. You wouldn’t walk into a police station and use that language and expect not to be arrested. Twitter is not a place where ‘anything goes’, which is the misconception that stupid people have. Good on the club I say. For anyone to think this is the wrong move – they need to have a long look at themselves. People have been jailed for sending abusive/racist tweets in the past – this fella got off lightly if you ask me.

    2. Well done to EFC in making a stand against morons like this bloke. We don’t want our club being associated with unacceptable behaviour as we are ‘the peoples club’ and to me, that means all people

    3. I agree with all the above and it should have been for life as that is how long he will be a racist
We are bigger than him and his like
