Everton and Liverpool are battling for the signature of Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone.
The 29-year-old was a consistent performer for Wigan in his debut campaign last season, scoring 13 goals in all competitions following his impressive 17 goals in La Liga last year.
Kone is widely expected to leave the DW Stadium this summer, with new Toffees boss Roberto Martinez the first to be linked with his former marksman.
After learning that the Ivory Coast forward is available for £6.5m Liverpool are monitoring his situation closely with a view to a summer bid, according to The Sun.
