Everton FC have abandoned their interest in Chelsea forward Victor Moses according to the Echo
The Blues have already moved to sign striker Arouna Kone and Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu this week, and while Roberto Martinez has been monitoring another of his former Wigan players in 22-year-old Moses, plans to try for a loan move have halted.
Nigeria international Moses made an impressive impact during his first campaign at Chelsea last term, scoring 10 goals in 43 appearances.
Martinez is a known admirer of Moses – who yesterday flew to Asia on Chelsea’s pre-season tour with new boss Jose Mourinho – after working with him over three seasons at Wigan, but the live-wire forward is highly unlikely to follow his former boss to Goodison Park.
It is understood Everton wanted a temporary deal for the player, but will not pursue an £8m bid as their new manager assesses his options for next term.
Martinez ideally wants to bolster his side in every department, and with goalkeeper Joel Robles onboard, defender Antonlin Alcaraz signed-up and forwards Kone and Deulofeu also added to his ranks he will now look for midfield reinforcements.
