Distin: Mirallas is RUBBISH at free-kicks in training
Everton defender Sylvain Distin said that the toffee’s may have been suffering a Derby hangover but showed their worth in the second half. The blues trailed to a Bacuna goal in the first half to hit back through strikes from Kevin Mirallas and Steven Naismith.
Distin joked that Kevin Mirallas hits some shocking free-kicks in training and that he might have to have a try soon too!
“We were a bit cautious in the first half – maybe the Liverpool game was still in our minds. But second half we opened up a bit, began to play our game and everything went well.
“We had most of the ball in the first half and they hadn’t been really dangerous so it was frustrating to concede the goal but it’s part of football so you need to accept it and react.
“We had a little word in the dressing room at half-time – we knew it wasn’t good enough. We came back with better intensity in the second half and you could see that.”
“In training he’s really rubbish! I might start to take free-kicks as well because if he can do it, I can do it!
“But we’re not a one-man team – we’ve got five or six players who can score goals and that’s great.”
