Coleman: It was a massive goal
Everton match winner Seamus Coleman has declared his injury time winner a massive goal but admits that he got a slice of luck as he miss hit his original shot.
Coleman broke Cardiff City hearts with his strike, which keeps the blues in contention for Europe and Coleman felt that Cardiff keeper David Marshall had a stormer to keep his side in it.
He said: “It was a massive goal. It didn’t go where I intended it to but it went in the net.
“I unfortunately gave away the free-kick which led to their goal so I was trying to get forward as much as I could to help the lads out.
“I got in the right position thankfully. I’m sure Cardiff will feel hard done by because it wasn’t the cleanest of strikes but they all count.
“I thought their keeper was absolutely fantastic. Some of the saves he pulled off were brilliant and to be honest, I think it would have needed a goal like that to beat him.”
“Cardiff made it difficult. We knew how good a team they are – the manager had told us all week.
“They’ve got some good players but thankfully we came out on top at the last minute. The fans were getting a bit anxious towards the end but we got a big roar in the end.
“Last week was a disappointment going out of the FA Cup. But we’ve now got 10 games left and we want to finish the season as strongly as we possibly can.
“Maybe this result will start us off well.”
