Coleman: Hibbert didn’t put a foot wrong while I was out
Seamus Coleman has praised veteran right-back Tony Hibbert for deputising for him while he was out injured recently.
The Republic of Ireland international says that Hibbert was brilliant in the games that he missed including the Merseyside Derby and Manchester United away, but that he was now glad to have his place back.
“It’s been tough – every player will tell you it’s difficult when you are not playing,” said “To miss the Merseyside derby and away at Manchester United, they are the games you want to play in.
“But I have to say Tony Hibbert was brilliant in those games and he deserves a mention because he didn’t put a foot wrong. It was great to get back in today but I thought Tony was brilliant.
“I am glad to be back at it now. Most importantly is the three points and I was glad to get on the scoresheet as well – I just had to point to an area and Leighton Baines put it on my foot.”
“I feel fine and it was good to get 90 minutes,” he added. “Obviously the goal was important but three points even more so.
“We look forward to Lille now. We go into training with a good atmosphere and look forward to the game on Thursday night.
“We are happy with the win.”
