Coleman can’t attack as much with Deulofeu in the team
Everton right-back Seamus Coleman has admitted that he has had to curb his attacking runs when he plays behind Gerard Deulofeu but says that he doesn’t mind as it’s for the good of the team
The Republic of Ireland international highlighted the fact that “Gerry” stays wide on the touch-line so he can’t get around the outside of him on the overlap as much.
“It’s changed a little bit with Gerard playing in front of me,”
“He hugs the touchline, which means I can’t get around him or get wide. I’m more inside playing the ball to him, but that’s working better for the team so I’ve no complaints.
“It would be good to get on the scoresheet but it’s important we win the games. I might usually be getting wide and getting at people whereas I’m more giving it to ‘Gerry’ now and letting him do it.
“The gaffer still wants us getting forward with the right opportunities but it’s just a little bit different, the positions I take up inside rather than outside.”
