Chelsea warned that Stones wouldn’t be sold before bid
Everton had warned Chelsea in a letter that they had no intention to sell John Stones days before their bid went public according to the Telegraph.
Jose Mourinho had recently responded to Roberto Martinez statement that John Stones was an Everton player end of, by stating that Everton had never told Chelsea that he wasn’t for sale.
Everton had already sent a written response to Chelsea’s intention of interest by saying that John Stones wasn’t for sale.
Whether Mourinho wasn’t informed of the letter by the Chelsea hierarchy, he misinterpreted the letter or simly wanted to cause mischief – we don’t know. But the Everton stance is simple.
